SCOTTS VALLEY — November 4, 2026. A proposal to raise Scotts Valley’s transient occupancy tax is attracting majority support in the November 4 preliminary results.
Numbers from the November 4 county update
The county reports 2,489 Yes votes (63.61%) and 1,424 No votes (36.39%).
What the local vote is about
The measure would raise the city’s tax on short-term lodging from 11% to 13%. City officials estimated approximately $300,000 in additional annual revenue; this is a projection rather than revenue already received. It is a general tax and would require a simple majority. The measure does not mean that sales tax or residential property tax rates are changing. The election result is not certified.
Why these results are preliminary
The reporting snapshot is dated November 4, 2026, at 1:53 a.m. Pacific. Election-night tallies do not account for all ballots accepted during canvassing. Further updates may change the totals. Voters should consult the Registrar of Voters for official certification.
