SCOTTS VALLEY, Santa Cruz County — November 3, 2026. Greg Wimp and Michael Zeller led the first count for two Scotts Valley City Council seats, with Danny Reber running third, according to county election officials. The tally remains preliminary.
Initial vote totals
The Santa Cruz County 8 p.m. report listed Greg Wimp with 2,196 selections (39.55%), Michael Zeller with 1,857 (33.45%), and Danny Reber with 1,464 (26.37%), plus 35 write-ins. Voters were allowed to choose two candidates; the percentages represent shares of recorded candidate selections rather than shares of individual voters. The second-place lead over Reber was 393 selections in this early count.
Why these seats matter
City Council decisions affect local streets, the city’s finances, public safety, recreation and development. Residents also follow separate decisions made by regional water and fire districts, whose directors are not interchangeable with City Council members.
Scotts Valley Water District has its own election
In the first count for three water district board seats, Ruth Stiles had 1,962 candidate selections, Brody R. Knutson 1,753, Bill Jager 1,125 and Brian Youmans 1,034. This is a separate contest with a different governing body; it should not be confused with the city election.
