SCOTTS VALLEY, Santa Cruz County — October 25, 2026. The City of Scotts Valley says its Scotts Valley Drive Complete Street Improvement Project is nearing an estimated October 27 completion date. The city’s official project update cautions that utility adjustments and heavy equipment remain active in the work zone, and that residents and motorists may experience noise and traffic delays.

What construction remains?

The city says the current schedule covers remaining utility adjustments. Some manhole covers are still lower than the new road surface, according to reports the city acknowledges, and staff plan to address them within the project period. The municipality has approved additional Saturday work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. around Scotts Valley Drive and Bean Creek Road. This is a scheduling allowance, not confirmation that work occurred on every Saturday.

The city’s safety instruction is explicit: do not drive through or around cones, barricades or caution tape. Drivers should follow temporary controls and take extra care where work crews are present. Residents should not assume all barriers will disappear precisely on the estimated completion date.

What about Hermon Road?

The same city construction page says Hermon Road improvements are expected to continue through October 27, 2026, with periodic traffic delays. The listed work includes pavement repairs, slurry seal, striping, curb and gutter installation, traffic controls and erosion controls. The city describes lane restrictions rather than a full roadway closure. Where work schedules change, on-site signs and the latest official update take precedence.

How to follow city decisions

Scotts Valley’s October municipal calendar lists Council meetings on October 7 and 21, a Parks and Recreation Commission meeting October 15, and an October 8 Planning Commission meeting marked canceled. It is important to distinguish recurring dates from meetings that actually occurred. A council agenda is not itself evidence that a policy or expenditure was adopted.

Report access problems through official channels

People with concerns about a construction hazard, driveway access, pedestrian route or a utility cover can use the city’s official contact and Public Works information to identify the correct staff. Serious immediate road hazards should be reported to the responsible emergency or traffic-safety service instead of relying on a newsletter comment.

As October 27 approaches, Scotts Valley News will distinguish the estimated finish from any confirmed final project acceptance or reopening.
